Lizzy + Lucas’ Wedding
Lizzy and Lucas’ wedding was absolutely gorgeous! These two are such a sweet couple! They both looked amazing! We absolutely loved the groom’s tie and how all the guys wore different color ties. All the girls wore boots with their dresses, which we love! Can’t forget the bride, she looked beautiful! Her gown was perfect and one of her best friends styled her hair gorgeously! Seriously, it was an absolutely gorgeous country chic wedding! Lizzy and Lucas congratulations! Enjoy married life… We absolutely love it and know you will too! Thank you for letting us share in your beautiful day!!!
How did you first meet and what were your first thoughts/impressions of each other?
Lizzy: The first time I saw Lucas was when I was 16. My friend and I were driving through town and we were at a red light and I saw him, something just attracted me to him the moment I laid eyes on him. We had seen where he pulled off. I wrote a note with my number on it and put it on his windshield. I never thought he would actually text/call me, being that he never even seen me and just thought it was someone pulling a prank on him.
Sure enough that night he texted me. We sent messages back and forth for a few days and we eventually called each other. The first night we talked, we stayed up all night. We had so much in common! I really feel as though I fell for him that day, crazy, I know. We finally decided to meet at a local park one afternoon. I was so nervous and excited all at the same time! When he had gotten out of the car he had walked behind mine, and I was so nervous that I put the car in reverse instead of park! Luckily, I didn’t hit him. We walked for a while and talked, and as we parted he gave me a hug. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Lucas: I met her at the park. She was so beautiful! I thought she was a sweet girl. The first time I met her I felt like she was my true love.
Tell us about your first date!
Lizzy: Lucas and I never really had a “first date”. When we first got together he didn’t have a steady job since he was right out of high school, and I was still in school, so we didn’t have too much money to do anything. He was living with his brother at the time. I would go over there many days and we would sit in the basement and just watch movies all day. It was so simple, and there are times that I look back and think that those were some of the best days we had together. I didn’t care if he took me to a fancy restaurant or out to the movies. I was content just being there with him and getting to know each other more.
Lucas: We never really had a first date. What felt to me like a “first date” was on my birthday she came to the house and brought me cupcakes and a pair of shorts. We watched some movies and spent time together. I will never forget how she fell off the couch and smashed the cupcakes.
When did you first know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?
Lizzy: This sounds so corny, I don’t necessarily know if I would say I knew he was “the one” but I knew there was something special and different about him compared to all the other guys I’ve talked to. That moment was the first night we talked. I had never had a feeling like that before! He just gave me the biggest butterflies, and the biggest smile that wouldn’t come off of my face! We just had a really strong connection.
Lucas: The first time she kissed me. She made the move and ran up and just did it.
Tell us all about the proposal!
Lizzy: Lucas and I had been dating for 4 1⁄2 years before we got engaged (something I am very proud of). We had always talked about getting married, because we knew we didn’t want to be with anyone else. There were always things we wanted to get done first. I wanted to finish school, and we wanted to make sure he had a good job. We were never really in too much of a rush because we were so young and we wanted to enjoy this time in our life. Last year though, we had really got serious, and I of course started dropping hints.
One thing about Lucas that I’ve learned over these 5 years, is that he CAN NOT keep a secret from me. He doesn’t mean to give things away. I’m just really good at figuring things out. So one day we went to look at rings, and I found the one. So when we got in the car to go home he asked “ do you want to go eat at the Opryland hotel next weekend?” and of course right away I knew what he had on his mind. So that week I went out and bought an outfit because in my head I knew this was going to be the big moment. I had to work that day, and that’s all I could think about… I’m really going to be an engaged woman tonight?!
So we went up there and we walked around the hotel and I kept thinking “when is he going to do it?” We got to a gazebo lit up with lights and I thought this is it!! I could tell though that he was nervous so nothing happened and we went to dinner. I was praying that he wouldn’t do it at the dinner table in front of everyone. He didn’t. After dinner we were going to walk out, and I thought maybe he isn’t going to do this. As we were walking through the hotel there was a spot with a water fountain. He told me to walk ahead of him, so I did. All of a sudden he called me from behind and when I turned around, there he was on one knee with my ring out, and he popped the question! I don’t even think I answered I ran to him and hugged him and just started crying.
Lucas: We got engaged on February 24th a few days before that I had went out and bought the ring. On our way back home from the mall the weekend before after looking at rings I asked her if she wanted to go eat at the Opryland Hotel the next weekend. I was so excited to finally be able to ask her. I was ready to go buy the ring and ask her the next day, but we had to wait til Sunday. That Sunday we went and we were walking through the hotel. I walked down towards a gazebo and I could tell that she was nervous because I told her to come here and when she came near me we just kept walking. I was joking around with her because I knew she thought I was going to do it then, but I made her wait. We then went and ate at an expensive restaurant. I could tell she was nervous the whole time. As we were leaving and walking back to the car there was a big water fountain and I had her walk in front of me. I got down on one knee and said “Lizzy, will you marry me?” She started crying and said yes. I was so happy, but I was so nervous and I was sweating the whole time.
What is the one thing you love most about each other?
Lizzy: I love everything about Lucas, but one thing I really love is his laugh! I LOVE to make him laugh. I don’t know what it is, but it just cracks me up and puts the biggest smile on my face. I’m always trying to tickle him or do something funny just so I can hear it!
Lucas: There are too many things. I can’t name just one. I love her personality, her smile, her laughter, the way she loves animals, the way she keeps me in line, and the way her blue eyes shine.
Share something silly or quirky the other person does that is normally annoying or crazy, but makes you love them a bit more each time… Or you know you love them because when they do it, you don’t kill them!
Lizzy: Something that drives me crazy about Lucas is that he’s very “OCD” about certain things. He knows if anyone has been on his phone because every time he uses it he closes everything and goes back to the beginning of the list on his apps, he has to keep certain things very neat and straight, and when we go out to eat he won’t unroll his dinner napkin that the silver ware is in. He will take it out the top, or unroll it, take out the fork and roll it back up! It drives me crazy!
Lucas: The one thing that drives me crazy is that she stays up late, she is the night owl.
Besides getting married what is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Lizzy: I am looking forward to our reception and just having a good time with all of our friends and family!
Lucas: I am looking forward to both of our families meeting each other that haven’t already met.
